From May 2 to 7, Lu Jinyou ,Deputy Director of Changjiang River Scientific Research Institute (CRSRI), led a delegation to attend the project workshop of Europe Seventh Framework Programme “Land and Ecosystem Degradation and Desertification: Assessing the Fit of Responses” (LEDD). The other partners from Greece, the United Kingdom, Netherland, Italy, Spain, Morocco and Germany also attended this meeting. The China CRSRI group members included the head of human resource department Chen Minzhong, the head of soil and water conservation Zhang Pingcang,  Dr Liu Honghu and Dr Hu Bo.

In the meeting, Deputy director Lu Jinyou had an in-depth conversation with professor Eleni Briassoulis (project coordinator) of University of the Aegean, Greece, and professor El Aich Ahmed of Institut Agronomique et Vétérinaire Hassan II, Morocco. The detailed information included the technical communication on land degradation and desertification, and the development history, construction of human resource, scientific infrastructure and research results of CRSRI. Both were looking forward to the cooperation in the future. Dr Liu Honghu reported the research progress and answered the questions of the other partners. After the meeting, from May 7 to 10, the China CRSRI group visited the Universitat de Valencia, Spain by the invitation of Professor Artemi Cerdà. The communication referred to the land degradation and desertification of grassland and its prevention and control technologies, as well as the further cooperation. The expected purpose was acquired. Thus, the visit was finished successfully.
